Josh Horne, AIA
Founding Principal, Architect
Josh grew up in North Carolina and moved to California at 18. The way things are designed has always been his obsession. As a child Josh spent a lot of his time drawing the houses of his neighborhood, trying to figure out their floorplans from the front elevations. He received his degree in Architecture with Honors from the University of California, Berkeley, where he was the recipient of an academic scholarship, along with numerous design awards. In the span of his career he has worked at a variety of different architecture firms, where he collaborated on the design of wineries, custom homes, offices, and residential remodels and additions. In 2016 he founded BAD Studio, a design-driven residential architecture firm. He is a registered Architect in the State of California, a member of the American Institute of Architects, and is based in Oakland.
Josh has a passion for helping his clients build the spaces of their dreams through listening, collaborating, and distilling all of the many variables of a project into forms that reflect their ethos.
In his free time he enjoys running with his wife, drawing, listening to jazz, and playing with puppies.
