A couple who own an early 1900s house on a wedge-shaped lot in Point Richmond wanted more space without disturbing what they already had. The existing house is protected by historic preservation law, which set the terms clearly.
The new ADU matches the geometry of the original home - its roof pitch, its siding, its sense of proportion, while creating an interstitial space between the two buildings that belongs to both.
