This house is for a young family that entertains often and homeschools four children, two lives running simultaneously under one roof, and the design takes that seriously.

The lot slopes downward, and the house follows it. You arrive at the main level, where adult life happens: great room, kitchen, primary bedrooms on either side. The entry is the hinge. Step inside and the house opens in three directions. Straight ahead is the living room and the view. Left and right are the private quarters. Downstairs belongs to the kids: bedrooms, a family room that doubles as a classroom, and direct access to the yard.

The geometry that connects it all runs at 45 degrees through the plan, diagonal sight lines and passages that link rooms which would otherwise feel isolated from each other, giving a house of this size an unexpected coherence.

A covered, heated dining deck enables year-round entertainment.
